SAF TRIAL SHOWS REMARKABLE RESULTS
Wastewater treatment and solutions specialists Jacopa report that they have managed to achieve a remarkable 0.2mg/l Ammonia in final effluent using the company’s highly-regarded CB750 SAF solution for nitrification and tertiary treatment.
The modest mantra for the small-footprint SAF solution has always been that no plant should fail, and that each plant will be robust and its performance reliable. Plants are also both easy to use and easy to relocate.
A typical Jacopa SAF installation on a site of up to 3000PE treats wastewater to 20:30:5 BOD:SS:NH4, either as a permanent solution, as a temporary treatment option while existing plant is being refurbished, or when it is failing to meet its design capacity.
The trial data shows the remarkable treatment levels achieved in two CB750 units being used for tertiary treatment (see Table 1). The figures show that an average Ammonia level of 0.17mg/l was consistently achieved with an influent Ammonia level of around 1.3mg/l. The Company admits that these are exceptional performance levels, but point out that such performance can mean a utility could get below a very tight consent.”
Jacopa’s claims for process performance and level of treatment remain conservative. The company welcomes collaboration with other clients wishing to hire units to undertake tertiary treatment trials, requiring solutions for marginally-compliant works, or that need to support planned maintenance.
