REPLACEMENT COMBINED SEWER OVERFLOW (CSO) SCREEN – SOUTHERN WATER

The combined sewer overflow was situated in a residential street in Tonbridge, Kent. The original overflow screen was beyond repair and had been removed. Access to the sewer was from the road and was very restrictive in terms of the equipment which could be installed through and into such a confined space.

Jacopa’s storm product specialist attended the site to assess the most cost-effective and robust solution. Jacopa provided a design focused around their CS7002 Copa 4mm raked bar screen that was accepted by Southern Water as the most suitable solution.

The screen is ideally suited to both new and existing CSO chambers where high frequency spills are anticipated. The modular design is perfect for retrofitting, as little or no civil work is required to the existing chamber. The design allowed the unit to be assembled below ground through a manhole just 600mm wide
