GREEN CHRISTMAS AT JACOPA

David Attenborough’s Blue Planet TV show highlighted the damaging impact that single-use plastic is having on the world’s oceans and ecosystems. Yet still, every year millions of tonnes of non-biodegradable plastic are produced which, when thrown away will end up in landfill or migrate to the world’s seas.

Reusable drinking glasses have significant environmental benefits both in terms of helping to eliminate the use of non-recyclable plastics and by cutting down on the number of plastic cups manufactured or recycled significant reductions in energy and other resources are also achieved.

Protecting the environment for future generations is a core concern for West Bromwich based, wastewater treatment systems and solutions experts Jacopa. And the Company have responded to concerns about the environmental impact of plastic cup use by providing every employee with a little extra Christmas present; a personalised drinking glass.

The idea originally came from Jacopa’s Neil Sandell who used the Company’s ‘Improve It’ system to raise awareness of the environmental impact of plastic cup usage. Neil said, “Providing environment friendly wastewater treatment solutions is part of Jacopa’s DNA, it therefore seemed only natural that we should take this opportunity to demonstrate our green credentials”.
