BOSKER DOES THE BUSINESS AT DEEPHAMS
Jacopa has installed rugged Bosker overhead trash raking systems to protect vital assets at Thames Water’s massive Deephams wastewater treatment works.
The company was awarded the significant contract to ensure greater protection for the fine screens at Deephams, an 885,000PE treatment works sited in the London Borough of Enfield. The Bosker system reduces maintenance and operational costs as well as risk to downstream equipment.
The Bosker overhead trash raking system is installed on the high level inlet to the works and has to clean five 11m deep by 2m wide inlets, each of which contains bar screens with 100mm bar spacings.
Two grab units were installed on a duty/standby basis – they have to be able to remove large debris such as plastic and glass bottles, timber, concrete and bricks, as well as balls of condensed fat and rag and metal objects .
The installation can remove at least 8tonnes of debris per hour, and can cope with storm flows of over 7000 litres/sec. It has been fitted with a wash down system, which sprays wash water onto the captured debris before it is transported for disposal.
Jacopa Key Account Manager Mick Burton says: “The Bosker unit is simple, robust and effective. The Deephams contract is an excellent example of how, working closely with Thames Water and the contractor, we have been able to offer the most cost-effective and best-engineered solution for the site. It’s a solution that will provide many years of extremely high performance screencleaning and protection.”
