TRAINING AWARD ACCOLADE FOR JACOPA

Wastewater treatment systems and solutions experts Jacopa achieved a highly creditable finalist’s place in this year’s prestigious Engineering Construction Industry Training and Development Awards.

Jacopa was shortlisted for the ‘SME of the Year’ award, placing the company among the engineering construction industry’s ‘brightest and best’ at the sixth annual event.

The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) is the statutory skills body for the engineering construction industry in Great Britain, working closely with employers and the government on developing industry personnel across a wide range of related disciplines to the highest possible standards.

The SME of the Year award is given in recognition of an organisation that has demonstrated exceptional commitment to learning and development during the past year and Jacopa were nominated for the award by the ECITB midlands area account manager.

A panel of expert judges from the organisation pored over the nominations before creating the shortlist, and the winners were announced on 26 October at the Institution of Engineering and Technology in Savoy Place, London.

ECITB Chief Executive Chris Claydon said in a statement: “The ECITB is committed to ensuring that the engineering construction workforce has the skills it needs. Without this continuous investment in people and skills, the country’s critical national infrastructure would not be built or maintained. The annual awards are a great way to recognise all the fantastic work already being carried out by the people and companies within the sector.”

Jacopa’s Quality, Health, Safety, Environment (QHSE) manager Tony Hinton put together the entry, which highlights the tireless work of the company’s senior management team in identifying areas where augmented training and development could create opportunities for personal development and enhance the performance of the organisation, its products and services, as well as retaining and attracting high-calibre staff.

Managing Director Alex Lloyd said: “Winning a finalist’s place at this prestigious event highlights Jacopa’s on-going commitment to learning and development in the pursuit of excellence, which is a vital part of what we stand for, and what we offer to clients. We have enthusiastically embraced our partnership with ECITB, which has paid real dividends both for us as a company and for the people who work within it. We are incredibly proud to have won this award, which recognises the tremendous efforts that the entire team have made to continually better our training and development.”
