COMMITMENT TO TRAINING REWARDED

Jacopa’s outstanding commitment to learning and development has been rewarded with a prestigious nomination for SME of the Year in the Engineering Construction Industry (ECI) annual Training and Development awards.

The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) is the statutory skills body for the engineering construction industry in Great Britain. It works closely with employers and the government on developing industry personnel across a wide range of related disciplines to the highest possible standards. The awards are a highlight in the engineering construction industry’s calendar and recognise the commitment made by organisations to maintain the skills and talent that are imperative to secure the industry’s future.

The SME of the Year award is given in recognition of an organisation that has demonstrated exceptional commitment to learning and development during the past year. Jacopa’s nomination is an acknowledgment of its management team’s commitment to identifying areas of training and development that provide both the opportunity for personal development and enhance the performance of the organisation, its products and services.

Jacopa’s QHSE Manager, Tony Hinton said: “Jacopa has enthusiastically embraced membership of the ECITB, we recognise that it is vitally important to have one point of contact who can arrange and advise on training, either when individuals request it or when we identify a need. Our wholehearted commitment to this partnership approach has been rewarded with dividends both for the company and those working within it.”

To ensure that the training provided is fully effective, Jacopa ask individuals to provide written feedback on their training experience enabling the company to evaluate improvements in business performance. Annual performance reviews are also conducted during which staff can discuss their personal training and development achievements and needs.

Tony Hinton says: “Jacopa is completely committed to continual improvement through the provision of further instruction and training. We realise that our employees are our biggest asset and the development of their skills and knowledge is vital. Our investment in training enables individuals to plan their future, minimises our staff turnover and leverages opportunities to diversify and develop new products and markets.”
