JACOPA TOASTS 100TH SAF AT SCOTLAND’S WHISKY CAPITAL

Jacopa is celebrating an amazing landmark: the wastewater treatment systems and solutions experts have just installed their 100th Copa SAF system in Scotland, at Scottish Water’s Dufftown waste water treatment works.

Dufftown lies in Moray, in Northern Scotland, and the small town is famous for producing more malt whisky than any other town in Scotland, earning it the well-deserved title of “Whisky Capital of the World”

The CB750 Copa SAF was installed in collaboration with Prime Pumps Ltd and Scottish Water Operations, led by team leader Andy Will (centre), who celebrated the occasion with Jacopa’s Iain Coventry (right) and Scottish Water senior operative David Duncan (left).

The SAF was installed because of concerns about breaching the site’s CAR (Water Environment (Controlled Activities) (Scotland) Regulations 2011) licence, which had already led to preventative chemical dosing being put in place. The Copa system was recommended as a long-term solution to help drive down the effluent BOD and Ammonia levels.

Since its installation, Scottish Water reports that the site is operating within parameters and they are delighted by the new addition to the works.

Jacopa Managing Director, Alex Lloyd said: “Scottish Water are very pleased with the plant, and the team are looking to replicate this solution for other sites.”

“We’re very proud that our centennial SAF has been such a success, all the other 99 are also working very well indeed, and are testament to the effectiveness and robustness of this particular treatment solution as well as our warm and close working relationship with Scottish Water.”
